Floppydingdongs, an NFT satire
Floppydingdongs, an NFT satire
Floppydingdongs is an NFT project I've been working on. It's an NFT project that took me a day to make but helps me convince my friends not to waste money on NFTs and instead invest in a (free, minus cents of network fees) floppydingdong!
I created Floppydingdongs as a tongue-in-cheek response to the absurdity and hype surrounding NFTs. The project pokes fun at the idea that digital scarcity and randomness alone can create value, especially when the end result is something as silly as a "floppydingdong." By making the project free (aside from minimal network fees), I wanted to highlight how much of the NFT craze is driven by speculation and FOMO rather than genuine utility or artistry.
The satirical value comes from both the name and the execution: it's intentionally goofy, quick to make, and transparently pointless—yet it still exists on the blockchain, just like so many "serious" NFT projects. In a way, Floppydingdongs is a playful critique of the gold rush mentality, encouraging people to laugh at the space's excesses and maybe think twice before dropping real money on digital trinkets.
